This crunchy, fast-food–style fried chicken recreates that familiar golden bite at home without the need for a deep fryer.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 1 to 1.25 lb total)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 1/2 cups plain breadcrumbs (or panko for extra crunch)
  • 1 teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika (smoked or sweet)
  • Oil for frying (neutral oil with high smoke point like vegetable, canola, or peanut)

Instructions

  1. Season and marinate the chicken with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika. Let rest for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Set up three bowls: one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with seasoned breadcrumbs.
  3. Dredge each chicken breast in flour, dip in egg, then coat thoroughly with breadcrumbs.
  4. Heat oil in a skillet to 350–375°F.
  5. Fry the breaded chicken for 5–7 minutes per side until deep golden and internal temperature reaches 165°F.
  6. Rest on a wire rack for a minute or two and serve hot.

Notes

For a lighter option, consider baking or air frying the breaded chicken. Ensure to dry the chicken thoroughly before breading to avoid soggy crust.
