Description

A quick and creamy one-skillet dinner featuring tender orzo, juicy chicken sausage, and nutritious broccoli.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup orzo pasta (about 170 g)
  • 2 chicken sausages, sliced into 1/2-inch rounds
  • 2 cups broccoli florets, bite-sized
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste


Instructions

  1. Warm 2 tablespoons olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat until shimmering.
  2. Add sliced chicken sausage in a single layer and cook, stirring occasionally, until nicely browned, about 5–7 minutes.
  3. Stir in the broccoli florets and cook for 2–3 minutes.
  4. Pour in 1 cup chicken broth, add the orzo, and season with salt and pepper.
  5. Bring the pan to a gentle boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for about 10 minutes.
  6. Stir in 1/2 cup grated Parmesan until melted and creamy.
  7. Spoon into bowls and enjoy warm.

Notes

For extra creaminess, stir in 2–3 tablespoons of cream or whole milk with the Parmesan. Feel free to swap broccoli for other quick-cooking vegetables.
