Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef or turkey
- 1 onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (15 oz) kidney beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 can (15 oz) black beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 can (15 oz) diced tomatoes
- 2 cups beef or vegetable broth
- 1 tbsp chili powder
- 1 tsp cumin
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a large pot, brown the ground beef or turkey over medium heat until fully cooked. Drain excess fat.
- Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the pot, sautéing until the onion becomes translucent.
- Stir in the kidney beans, black beans, diced tomatoes, and broth.
- Add chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper, mixing to combine all the ingredients.
- Bring the mixture to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low.
- Cover and let it cook for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Taste and adjust the seasoning as necessary.
- Serve hot, topped with your favorite ingredients!
Notes
For added flavor, use a cast iron pot. Chili stores well and tastes better the next day.
