Description
A healthier twist on classic fried chicken, this air-fried version promises crispy, flavorful chicken drumsticks without the guilt.
Ingredients
- 4 chicken drumsticks
- 1 cup buttermilk (for marinating)
- 1 cup all-purpose flour (for coating)
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- Cooking spray or oil for air frying
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine the buttermilk, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Stir until well blended.
- Add the chicken drumsticks to the bowl, ensuring they’re fully submerged in the marinade. Marinate for at least one hour, preferably overnight.
- Preheat your air fryer to 380°F (193°C).
- In a separate bowl, pour in the flour. Remove each drumstick from the marinade, allowing excess buttermilk to drip off, and coat thoroughly in the flour.
- Arrange the flour-coated chicken in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Lightly spray them with cooking spray or drizzle with a little oil.
- Air fry for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through until golden brown and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
- Serve hot and enjoy!
Notes
To retain crispiness when reheating, use the air fryer at 375°F (190°C) for 5-7 minutes.
