A healthier twist on classic fried chicken, this air-fried version promises crispy, flavorful chicken drumsticks without the guilt.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 chicken drumsticks
  • 1 cup buttermilk (for marinating)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour (for coating)
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • Cooking spray or oil for air frying

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the buttermilk, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Stir until well blended.
  2. Add the chicken drumsticks to the bowl, ensuring they’re fully submerged in the marinade. Marinate for at least one hour, preferably overnight.
  3. Preheat your air fryer to 380°F (193°C).
  4. In a separate bowl, pour in the flour. Remove each drumstick from the marinade, allowing excess buttermilk to drip off, and coat thoroughly in the flour.
  5. Arrange the flour-coated chicken in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Lightly spray them with cooking spray or drizzle with a little oil.
  6. Air fry for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through until golden brown and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  7. Serve hot and enjoy!

Notes

To retain crispiness when reheating, use the air fryer at 375°F (190°C) for 5-7 minutes.
